This Nano sanding backing pad uses a vinyl face for the intended adhesive-backed abrasive. It should not be substituted for a hook-and-loop polishing backing plate.
The backing pad supports the abrasive and, where provided, routes sanding dust through its openings. The fitting and hole layout matter as well as the working diameter.
